Washington Head Coach Takes Blame for Keeping Jayden Daniels in Game Before Significant Harm

The Commanders head coach Coach Quinn has admitted he shares some the fault for a major injury to the squad’s quarterback, Daniels.

Details of the Harm and Situation

Daniels, who had one of the greatest rookie campaigns in history the previous year, suffered a displaced elbow joint in the Sunday loss to the Seahawks. Although the quarterback throws with his dominant arm, the injury has placed his campaign in doubt. The condition was significant enough that the TV coverage avoided showing replays and several players looked away as Daniels was attended to by medical staff.

Criticism and Leader’s Reaction

Quinn faced scrutiny as numerous felt Daniels should not have been on the field in the first place. The incident occurred in the final period with the Commanders trailing 38-7, making a recovery improbable. It is common in such circumstances for teams to insert their backup quarterback to prevent injuries to their starter.

“I understand. I’ve been thinking about it nonstop, too, and, man, I erred,” he said of his decision to keep Daniels in the game. “This is 100% on me.”

Fallout and Team Outlook

Marcus Mariota will be the team’s starting quarterback going forward, but he will lead a roster in disarray. Following reaching the conference title game last season behind Daniels’s excellence, the team have faced difficulties currently. They also saw injuries to cornerback Marshon Lattimore (ACL tear) and pass-catcher Luke McCaffrey (collarbone fracture) on game day, and have a number of other starters on injured reserve. The Washington squad are 3-6 so far, and it would require a huge reversal for the team to make the postseason.
